About Learning Disability Pride Day
We are very excited to tell you that Northern Ireland will hold its first Learning Disability Pride Day on Saturday 27th May 2017 in Carrickfergus!
This is set to be an unmissable event for people with a learning disability, as well as their friends, family members, carers, support workers and the rest of the community.
Whether you have a learning disability, know someone who does, or are keen to find out more about learning disabilities, you will be made to feel very welcome and we guarantee there will be something to suit all tastes on the day.
What You Need to Know
We will be sharing more and more information about the day as it approaches, but the main points you need to know are:
- Flying the Flag for Learning Disability
To start the day there will be a Parade showcasing flags, posters, banners and floats from people with learning disabilities, organisations and schools from across Northern Ireland, giving everyone a chance to really shout about what makes us proud to have support people with learning disabilities.
The parade will begin at Carrickfergus Health Centre and finish at Carrickfergus Castle Car Park.
- Get into the Groove
After the parade there will be a concert featuring live bands, DJs, dancers and more in Harbour Car Park Ground.
- Market Stalls for All
Local and Learning Disability affiliated social enterprises and organisations will be on hand to sell products and help you learn about their services for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers.
- Let’s Learn Together
Workshops for different types of dancing, crafts and living with learning disability will be held throughout the day, including (Irish Dancing, Cheerleading, superhero characters plus many more exciting and engaging features to be confirmed!
